LOOOONG Overdue Blog!

So I know it has been FOREVER since I blogged, but thats not because things have been boring. On October 2nd we got a new puppy, Manny! It has been hard to do much of anything since he moved in, but somehow we managed to go to ACL and an engagement brunch, I took a girls trip to LA, we had an awesome Halloween, and a great trip to Corpus for my birthday! Now that you are all caught up, I promise to keep the blog better updated through the holidays. I hope you enjoy all the pics!

Morgan's Sports Bar and Grill

Everyone's favorite bartender :)

Grandma enjoying a Cosmo with Aunt Kathy and me

Trey and I were in Corpus at the end of August for our engagement party and for the grand opening of Morgan's Sports Bar & Grill. My mom and dad, along with Buck, Laura, Mary, and friends have been working so hard this summer to get the bar up and running and they did it just in time for football season! The bar is awesome. It fills a much needed void in the downtown area of Corpus as the first and only sports bar. As you can see from above flat screen TV's cover every wall, and they can have as many different games on as they have TVs! This is really going to come in handy considering that every boy in my family is obsessed with a different football team. You can find Buck and Mary behind the bar, Laura waiting tables, and John Sixta in the kitchen cooking up bar snacks. I personally can't wait to try the Irish eggrolls which Laura assures me are delicious! I am so proud of my family and am sure this place is going to be huge a success! Go Steelers! Go Dolphins! Go Cowboys!

Engagement Party

The beautiful cake Lissa had made for the party.

My mom's good friend's Lissa and Barbara threw Trey and me the most beautiful engagement party in Corpus. Everything was incredible. The party was at Lissa and Rolf's house on the Island and it was a beautiful evening on the water. Lissa and Barbara went all out, cooking an amazing buffet, decorating the house with Lissa's adorable vintage cake toppers, and ordering us the most beautiful cake. I have decided that I don't want to have a traditional wedding cake at our reception, so they got us one for our engagement party! The best part about the cake is that it was a delicious as it was pretty. For everyone that missed out, don't worry; the same baker (Gary Holman) is also creating a dessert bar for our reception, so there will be plenty of her yummy goodies for you all to try! Trey and I are so thankful to Lissa and Barbara for all their hard work. And also to everyone who came down to Corpus for the party. We know a lot of you had to travel and we really appreciate you making the effort to come celebrate with us. We can't wait for the wedding!

NYC!

My friends Greg's band Chat Logs

At PS1 Warm Up

Trey and I were in New York at the beginning of the month and had a wonderful time! It was great catching up with all of our friends and going back to our favorite restaurants and bars that we miss so much! It was also Heather and mines first official dress meeting! Special thanks to Judy for letting us stay her apartment. Highlights of the trip included getting to visit my cousin Liz's new store, seeing my friend Greg's band play, eating at Freeman's and Tree, seeing a game at the new Yankee's Stadium, and catching up with friends we haven't seen in months. Luckily, we will have to go back for dress fittings as the wedding gets closer! :)

Home Makeover!

Some of you who have seen our house and even stayed in our guest bedroom are probably looking at these pictures and wondering where this is. I know its almost unrecognizable, but this is our house! I wish had before and afters, but actually am glad I never have to see it the way it was before ever again! My mom came to town and put all of her DIY, super organized, home design skills to use! She helped us transform our house! Our entryway and dining room are so much more inviting now. And what was once a useless second bedroom full of junk, is now a vanity/office area. We still have room for our queen-size aerobed, but the surroundings are much more pleasant now :) I feel like I should apologize to anyone who stayed in that bedroom before, it is really a completely different room now! And now that our house is so cute, I want to have more people over. So come visit!

Honey Moon!

Since we got engaged, Trey and I have had a lot of fun discussing possible honeymoon destinations, and we have made our decision... We are going to Martinique! We both love the beach and wanted to go somewhere neither of us had been before. And with all Martinique has to offer (beautiful beaches, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, great dining, etc.) we think it is the perfect spot for us to both enjoy ourselves. Neither of us have been anywhere in the Caribbean so any tips or information any one has is greatly appreciated! So far I know it is where they filmed the Thomas Crown Affair, and Mick Jagger has a home on the nearby island of Mustique and spends time on Martinique as well. But seeing as how Pierce Brosnan and Mick Jagger are kind of hard to get a hold of, we are looking for advice from other sources :) Please email us any suggestions you have! (Auntie A, this especially goes for you since I hear you have spent some time there!) We can't wait to start planning our romantic first trip as husband and wife!

treyandcassy.com!

More pics on our website!

An example of Mr. Boddington's invites

Wedding planning is in full swing! Our website is up and running, so check out treyandcassy.com for all our wedding details. Next up, invitations! I have looked at several stationers, but I haven't found anything as cute or as perfect for me as Mr. Boddington's Studio. The custom made invites are so clever and I can't wait to see what they create for Trey and me! We have an appointment with them during our trip to New York in August so I will keep you posted! In the meantime, check out the site for yourself. They do stationery for all occasions!

Grill It!

Yay for summer! Trey's dad gave us his old grill last week, and we enjoyed our first grilled feast on Sunday! After a trip to Williams-Sonoma for some Father's Day shopping, we picked a copy of Grill It! by my celebrity chef crush Bobby Flay. All of the recipes were easy and everything was delicious! We had asparagus 2 ways: bacon wrapped, and with feta; sweet potatoes with spicy sweet cranberry bourbon sauce, corn on the cob with garlic thyme butter, and Trey had grilled salt and pepper shrimp! Next up...burgers!!

Sole Searching

One of the first things people ask me when I tell them I am getting married in a year is if I have found my dress yet. Well, lucky for me, my good friend (and bridesmaid!) Heather is a fabulous designer and she is making my wedding dress. Heather knows my style and it has been fun sending each other pictures of fabulous gowns for inspiration. I can't wait to see what she designs, and I know it is going to be perfect! The only downside to my custom-made gown is that I don't really have any reason to go shopping for one, so I have decided to devote all that shopping energy to the perfect wedding shoes! I was picking up mascara at Nordstrom's last night when I walked by these AMAZING glittery pink Jimmy Choo peep toes! Definitely a candidate!

Save the Date!

So as I am sure most you have noticed, I have not blogged in forever! Things have been kinda crazy since we got engaged! Thank you to all our friends and family for the all the well wishes and celebrations over the past month! It has been so fun sharing this with everyone, and we look forward to lots of good times with you all over the next year leading up to our big day! I was able to go to Corpus a few weeks ago and my mom and I made a lot of plans! We are so lucky that our long time family friends Wayne and Deneece Squires have offered to let Trey and I have our ceremony in their beautiful backyard. And, of course, the reception will follow at the good ol' Holiday Inn Emerald Beach :) So mark your calendars...June 11, 2011 is the date! We hope you can all be there to celebrate with us! I promise to do more wedding planning posts in the coming months. And as if I needed another reason why Trey is the best fiance ever, he brought me home these beautiful flowers last week just because :)

I'm Engaged!!

I think most of you have heard the exciting news by now, but I still thought it needed its own post! I am so thrilled to be marrying Trey! I was completely shocked when he surprised me after work on Tuesday and asked me to marry him. Trey designed the ring all on his own, so it was a complete surprise to me. I could not have designed a more perfect ring for myself! We really couldn't be happier! And I can't wait to plan our wedding!!

Corpus!

Natalie, Me and Laura at the Hooks Game

Claire in her fabulous Hedo Dress!

I made Buck stand in front of his Team Red Tide Sign at Bubba's :)

Trey and I had a fabulous weekend in Corpus a couple weeks ago! Unfortunately, I took very few pictures :( It was a really a great trip though. Not only did we get to see my mom and dad and Buck and Laura, but my Aunt Gay was there along with my Grandma Helen and Grandpa John. And if that wasn't enough Natalie and Claire were in town too! Saturday night we went to the Hooks game. It was kind of rainy, but it didn't matter because we had one of the suites at a Whataburger Field. After the game we probably had a little too much fun at my Mom and Dad's new loft (which is so cute that it will get its own post soon!) Claire and Stewart, who were in town for a wedding came by and Claire was wearing one of Heather's new creations. She looked fabulous! I can't wait to see the rest of the Hedo line! Sunday we took Trey out to Port A for the first time and showed him the beach before enjoying Pina Colada's at the Back Porch Bar. We didn't leave till Monday evening so we were able to squeeze in some pool time before catching our flight back to Dallas. Leslie and David came by with Cooper who I should have taken a picture of! He is getting so big, and is adorable! Also, on that Monday Leslie found out she is having a baby girl! So Exciting! It was a great visit and I can't wait to go back in May!

Blog Break

Photo © Allison V. Smith

As some of you have probably noticed, I have taken a bit of a break from the blog. Trey and I were in Corpus last weekend, and that will be getting its on post soon. But, this week I have been super busy at work because last night we had an opening for one of our artists. Some of you have requested more art related posts, so I thought this would be a great time to share with you the blog I write for the gallery. I post things that are happening in the gallery, and also try to post things going on with gallery artists. Click here for the Barry Whistler Gallery blog. Also, the photo on this post was taken by Allison V. Smith, who is not only one of the gallery artists but is also married to my boss. Allison's work is amazing, and she is the inspiration for all my blogging, so be sure to check out her blog here! I hope thats enough to fill your art cravings for now!

Happy Birthday Mr. Mustard!!!

On Sunday, the fabulous Mr. Mustard turned 2 years old! As most of you know, Mr. Mustard is the cutest, sweetest, greatest cat in the world! We celebrated with treats and birthday songs. Mustard must have been feeling more mature because yesterday he did something he has never done before... he went outside! When we were in the apartment he would sit on our balcony, but since we have been in the house, he has been petrified of the front and backyard. We thought we might have an agoraphobic cat, but yesterday he went right out in the front yard. He never got more than a few feet away from me, and he ran in when the mailman came, but he explored in the bushes and the grass. He stared down squirrels and birds, and even our neighbors dog! The dog was behind a fence, but still! I look forward to many more birthdays and outdoor adventures with Mr. Mustard!

Yaesayer at the Granada

Trey and I saw Yaesayer last night at my favorite Dallas music venue, The Granada. Although it was a late show for us on a Thursday (they didn't come on till after 10) it was well worth it! They played a lot of stuff off their new album Odd Blood. Being out on Greenville made me excited for warm weather and summer shows. Yaesayer is playing at Coachella next weekend, so for all of you going be sure to see them!

April Showers!

I had to do one last Peyton related post because she is just too cute in her new rain gear! Brooke found her this adorable rain coat and matching galoshes at St. Bernard's. I can already tell Peyton is going to have great taste, her favorite color is pink and she loves anything with an animal theme :) I can't wait for more baby fashion shows!

Peyton!

So I haven't been blogging the past few days because I have been spending all my spare time with the adorable Peyton! Trey's sister Brooke, brother-in-law Jim, and their 2 year old daughter Peyton came in town for Easter. We hadn't seen Peyton in months and she is so big now! The last time we saw her, she wasn't much of a talker quite yet, but now she is chatting up a storm! She even knows our names, although they come out sounding like, "Twey and Khaki." She has tons of energy and the cutest little giggle. We took her to the zoo yesterday morning and she loved seeing all the animals. She had her first Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday at Grandpa and LuLu's house (Trey's mom and dad's) and she really cleaned up. We have had a blast spending time with her and can't wait for our next visit with her when we go to Richmond for Memorial Day. I can't even imagine what she will be doing by then!
